How to Wash Cotton Sweaters Without Fading?

More and more modern urbanites prefer to wear clothing made of natural materials such as cotton, linen, and wool because they are environmentally friendly and healthy. Now, the editor from Yercan Wool Textile will share with you how to wash cotton sweaters to prevent fading.

1. The main characteristics of cotton clothing are comfort, breathability, sweat absorption, and harmlessness to the human body. Cotton has good dyeing properties, but dyed cotton yarn will fade to some extent, especially darker colors. When washing, it should be separated from other cotton clothes, and the soaking time should not be too long. Mix the pure cotton detergent and solution evenly before soaking the clothes; otherwise, the fading will be uneven.

2. The optimal water temperature for washing is 30-35 degrees Celsius. Soak for a few minutes, and after washing, air dry in a cool, ventilated place. Do not expose to direct sunlight to avoid fading.

3. It is recommended to use alkaline detergents (such as soap) because cotton yarn is dyed in an alkaline environment, so alkaline detergents will accelerate fading. Using a detergent specifically for pure cotton would be even better.

4. Adding 1-2 tablespoons of salt to the detergent during washing can also prevent clothes from fading.

5. When drying, turn the sweater inside out, with the lining facing the sun and the outer layer in the shade. Sunlight can cause the dye to change color.
